TEXAS STARTUP & INVESTOR FEEDBACK FORM: Governor Appoints Texas Chamber CEO To Lead Government Efficiency For Small Business Initiative
The Texas State Governor Greg Abbott named our Texas State Chamber of Commerce partner, President & CEO Glenn Hamer, to chair the newly created Small Business Freedom Council, in order to source feedback and identify ways to best help small business interface with government state agencies. Hamer will co-lead this effort with the Texas State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business, Jeff Burdett.
Hamer has asked the Texas Venture Alliance, as the state’s largest innovation network of entrepreneurs— and organizer of the Texas ecosystem of startup support of investors, accelerators, incubators, universities, angel networks, regional & state chambers and economic development corporations, and more— to help collect and suggest feedback to the Chamber.
“We are honored and eager to help source information and ideas from Texas’ most innovative entrepreneurs and type of small business owners from the nearly 10,000 startup founders & ecosystem partners that our entire statewide network reaches,” CS Freeland, founding Executive Director of Texas Venture Alliance said. “Thank you to Glenn & team for choosing us to, per our mission, ‘amplify and advocate’ for this community. We appreciate their continued collaboration on this new and important directive from the governor and will work hard to assist the Texas government in working with our community in a more efficient and effective manner.”
From the official press release, the governor is collecting feedback to “recommend the elimination of rules, fees, and regulations that create barriers to the success of our small businesses and entrepreneurs. Your input in this process is invaluable. I ask that you identify any rules, permits, fees, or regulations in your agency that may hamper small business formation, operation, and growth.”
Additional measures will be taken so please keep informed by subscribing to the Texas Venture Newsletter via LinkedIn or email here. Texas State Agencies' recommendations are due to the Governor’s Office by January 13, 2025. The Governor’s Small Business Freedom Council will review and provide a report for further action. Texas Venture Alliance and the Texas State Chamber of Commerce will also provide an update at the Texas Venture Gala & Forum. Submit suggestions in via form below to remain updated on this initiative.
