PRESS RELEASE: Multiple Texas Cities Launch a First Statewide, Simultaneous Event Convening Startups & Investors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Leaders in Texas’ startup and investor community in regions across the state have helped create the Texas Venture Crawl, a statewide, simultaneous networking experience for the evening of October 6th, 2023. This collaboration with 20+ board and committee team members across Texas, will host Texas Venture Crawls in 15+ venues— all in effort to amplify the region’s innovation as part of the state’s startup and venture ecosystem.

The Venture Crawl first started last year in Austin was organized by CS Freeland, cofounder of the Texas Venture Alliance, and had attracted more than 1,000 attendees across multiple downtown locations. After proving to be a major success and with growing interest from nearly triple the amount of venues, this year’s event is expected to attract thousands of attendees statewide wanting to see Texas innovation flourish. This shows that while the startup and venture industry took a hit, Texas has still experienced a surge in the ecosystem of startup support.

“The folks hosting Texas Venture Crawls in their city are creating a very unique type of event. They are not only being a host for connections between the startups and venture community in their region, but they’re also providing a new experience connecting their region to a statewide network,” said Freeland. “It is real, action-oriented and visionary leadership to do a first event like this together. Most of us didn’t even know each other before this summer, but now we’re all planning one big initiative. It’s also important to note the diversity all across professionals, industries, investment stages, personalities, experience, and of course new geographic backgrounds— all working toward the same goal.”

The initial organizations featured on the Texas Venture Crawl consists of venture capitalists, accelerators, Chambers of Commerce, economic development corporations, angel networks, and more including: LiveOak Venture Partners, S3 Ventures, Mercury Fund, Next Coast Ventures, Active Capital, bp Ventures, Softeq Venture Studio, Ion, Greentown Labs, Antler, Alamo Angels, Tech Bloc, Capital Factory, Geekdom, The DEC Network, National Security Innovation Council, Q-Branch, Bunker Labs, and more. A full list is here.

There are also supporters of the Texas Venture Crawl outside of venture firms including statewide sponsors Pacific Western Bank, Texas Association of Business (the Texas State Chamber of Commerce), the law firm Akerman, and continued sponsor from last year’s Venture Crawl, the tax and accounting firm EisnerAmper.
