Endorsement of Small Business Administration Deputy Administrator, William Briggs

Texas Venture Alliance sent a letter to United States Senate leadership voicing complete support for the nomination of William Briggs, a distinguished Texan, to serve as Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA).

On March 12, 2024, the Senate convened a hearing to evaluate Mr. Briggs’s candidacy, determining final committee endorsement prior to a full Senate vote.

The SBA holds a critical role in bolstering small businesses—which constitute over 99 percent of U.S. enterprises and employ nearly half the nation’s workforce—by ensuring access to essential resources, capital, and support, thereby enabling Texas startups and entrepreneurs to launch, scale, and prosper within a dynamic global marketplace.

With his prior service as Acting Associate Administrator in the SBA’s Office of Capital Access, complemented by extensive leadership in public policy and financial services, Mr. Briggs offers profound expertise and a keen awareness of the opportunities and obstacles confronting Texas’s small businesses and venture ecosystem.

Having proven his dedication to the small-business and entrepreneurial community , Mr. Briggs’s qualifications uniquely position him to excel as Deputy Administrator, and the Texas Venture Alliance is confident that he will deliver the vision, leadership, and commitment required to advance the SBA’s mission and fortify Texas’s pivotal role in America’s innovation economy.

The Texas Venture Alliance respectfully calls upon the Senate—led by esteemed figures such as Senator Ted Cruz—to expedite and fully confirm this nominee.
