Boerne’s Texas Venture Crawl, 10/6/23

The Texas Venture Crawl in Boerne, Texas was held at Das Greenhaus. Das Greenhaus is a 501c3 business incubator that now serves as the headquarters for the Texas Hill Country's entrepreneurial community. The night saw about 30 guests throughout the event. People came together to connect founders with investors and mentors across many industries including, AI, authors, a building materials innovator, sustainability, energy and so much more. Das Greenhaus allows the Texas Hill Country to have a home for entrepreneurial activity.

Guests included a Kendall County Commissioner, Andra Wisian, and City Councilman, Dr. Joseph Macaluso. Visiting from Kerrville, Elyssa Williams was able to meet and talk to many of our Das Greenhaus programming, including founders, investors and mentors. The CEO of Locoal, Miles Murray, joined and discussed sustainability in the energy and waste markets. Miles shared his vision for the Hill Country on his episode of Building Texas. Community Ambassadors, Somer Baburek and Ron Ondechek, representing the region as panelists at the San Antonio and Kerrville events.

We hosted the Texas Venture Crawl to meet other cities, learn more about what is happening across the state and to share our story. We welcome anyone to come visit the space and learn more about our vision for the Hill Country. We opened our doors on June 1, 2023 and the people have found us. Das Greenhaus is already looking to expand the existing campus based on the success in the first 90 days.

"We knew the demand was here, but the stories we are learning and people we are meeting are more than we could have imagined.” Justin McKenzie, Boerne Kendall County Angel Network's Executive Director said. “Today we have 20 founders in our Idea 2 Market (I2M) program, and 8 tenants in our building. These are founders we did not know before June 1st, 2023."

Join us for the Kendall County Economic Summit on October, 24 2023. We want to meet people from outside Kendall County and share our story and the impact we are having as we pursue an Entrepreneurial Led Economic Development strategy. We will have an open house event at Das Greenhaus following the Summit on 10/24.

All of this excitement and momentum is thanks to our wonderful sponsors, the Boerne Kendall County Economic Development Corporation, Texas Heritage Bank, GVTC and many others in our community. We are building the future of Kendall County and the Texas Hill Country, come join us. The Texas Venture Crawl has already shown meaningful results as the cross community email threads move towards organized support and growth of the ecosystem.

CS Freeland, Texas Venture Alliance:

Das Greenhaus is such a great space and was a perfect venue to gather the community of Boerne who want to see business, startups and investment grow. I was lucky enough to meet one of the cofounders of a startup who was a member there, as well as his cofounder about two weeks later while I was at a JP Morgan event in Austin. Love to see the multi-city collaboration as Justin mentioned the “cross communities” forming now. He is a focal point in so much for the Hill Country region with their events, coworking space— as well as bridging his region into the statewide audience with his podcast, Building Texas. Thanks Justin for your vision and all of your hard earned progress!
