CS Freeland

CS is a multi-disciplinary entrepreneur: She cofounded the Texas Venture Alliance, a venture advocacy group at the Texas State Capitol. She also created the Texas Venture Crawl, the largest gathering featuring venture capitalists in Texas history.

CS was the youngest Executive Director of a Venture Association in the United States while serving at the Austin Venture Association launching the organization in 2021. In 2022, she accepted an “Organization of the Year” award from the Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce recognizing work in the local Asian community. She is excited to see new leaders advance in the venture community who also look and think very differently.

Before that CS spent seven years as a managing director and then entrepreneur-in-residence at Powershift Group, a tech venture studio. There, she worked on special projects to launch startups and new initiatives. She also made recommendations to buy, build, or invest in new technologies supporting the portfolio.

Her operator experience began in 2015 when she launched young professionals’ networking app. The Dime Club, out of Powershift Group.

Outside of startups and venture, CS is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper and has spoken in Davos at the World Economic Forum, is a multi-award winning political operative for 2 Texas mayoral campaigns in digital strategy, and 13-year Austinite.
